Teacher Assistant (Full-Time & Part-Time Positions)

Location: Making Roots Montessori Centre
Supervisors: Assistant Director & Director
Hours: 1 Full-Time, 1 Part-Time (with substitute hours as required)

About the Role: As a Teacher Assistant at Making Roots Montessori Centre, you’ll play a key role in supporting our Montessori teachers and enriching the daily experiences of our preschool-aged children. Whether you’re helping with activities, providing personal care, or supervising children during play and rest times, your contributions will help create an environment where children can thrive and discover the joy of learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Montessori teachers during lesson plans and activities
• Assist with personal care (diapering, dressing, hand washing)
• Supervise outdoor and indoor play
• Maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment
• Build strong relationships with students and support their social and emotional development
• Available for substitute hours when needed

Qualifications:

• Child Care Assistant (CCA) designation (or equivalent)
• Fluency in French is a plus
• Current CPR & First Aid certification
• Clear Criminal Record & Child Abuse Registry checks
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

ECE II / Montessori Teacher-Guide (Full-Time)

Location: Making Roots Montessori Centre
Supervisors: Assistant Director & Director
Hours: Full-Time (Monday to Friday between 7:15 am – 5:30 pm)

About the Role: As a Montessori Teacher-Guide, you’ll be responsible for planning and implementing Montessori-inspired lessons and activities that cater to the unique needs of each child. You’ll work directly with children, monitor their progress, and provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. If you’re passionate about creating meaningful educational experiences in a bilingual setting, we invite you to join our team!

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute individualized Montessori lesson plans and activities
• Monitor and document student progress
• Write progress reports and conduct parent-teacher meetings
• Attend staff and in-service meetings
• Participate in school activities and field trips
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
• Ensure classroom is well-organized, safe, and stimulating

Qualifications:

• Montessori Teacher Certification (Preschool or Infant/Toddler)
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Montessori environment
• Early Childhood Education certification (an asset)
• Fluency in French is an asset
• Current CPR & First Aid certification
• Clear Criminal Record & Child Abuse Registry checks
• Three professional references

• Strong observational and documentation skills
• Ability to manage groups of children with varying needs
• Gentle and respectful approach to discipline and conflict resolution
